Surgical tools
Further topics from medical technology:
Surgical instruments include all medical instruments used in surgery. As surgical instruments are used in open wounds, they are primarily made of stainless steel, titanium or tantalum.
Application
HTR refines medical tools such as bone cutters and bone rasps for use in hospitals and doctors' surgeries.
These technically sophisticated products are vacuum-hardened and then deep-frozen. After hardening, depending on the material used, a mostly undesirable unstable phase remains in the steel - the retained austenite. The targeted transformation of this phase by deep-freezing the component serves to achieve the desired material properties. This also prevents structural changes during use.
